The first publication of “WIPO Technology Trends” points out that patenting activities in the artificial intelligence field is rising rapidly.
Here are some interesting datas:
- Since AI emerged in the 50s, nearly 340.000 AI-related applications have been filed;
- AI-related patenting boomed since 2013, half of the inventions published have originated since;
- Private companies represent 26 out of the top 30 AI patents applicants;
- IBM has the greatest portfolio (8,290 inventions), followed by Microsoft Corp. (5.930)
