The termination of the restrictions on cross-border payments originating in Greece, effective as of 1 September 2019, also has an impact on the outstanding fee payments before the European Patent Office (EPO)

The EPO has now published a Notice dealing with further details regarding fee payments originating from Greece [add link to Notice]. In this regard, you must take note of the remedy under Rule 134(5) EPC as well as any other possible remedies to avoid loss of rights, and the qualification, for the purposes of Rule 134(5) EPC, of the 15 October 2019 as the effective date on which the restriction on capital transfers originating in Greece has been terminated.
