With the central slogan “The authentic is eternal,” the cooperation between the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) continues for the coming years as part of the “Authenticities“ project. The goal of this ongoing partnership is to cultivate a culture of purchasing authentic products and to support local entrepreneurship.
The memorandum renewing the cooperation between the two entities was signed today (02/12/2022) at the City Hall by the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Zervas, and the General Director of OBI, Panagiotis Kanellopoulos. Representatives from the bodies assisting in the implementation of the “Authenticities” project were also present, including officials from the Metropolitan Unit of Thessaloniki, the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Chamber, and the Crafts Chamber.
In his speech, Mayor Konstantinos Zervas emphasized the importance of consuming authentic products for the local economy. He noted that the Municipality of Thessaloniki is a pioneer and effective partner in this effort.
From his side, the General Director of OBI, Panagiotis Kanellopoulos, highlighted that Thessaloniki is the first city to join the network of authentic cities, as defined by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
As an “Authentic City”, Thessaloniki will continue to promote the message “The authentic is eternal” and strengthen the effort to combat the negative effects of counterfeiting and imitation in goods and services.
