The trade in counterfeit/copycat products poses a serious threat to economic development, consumer health and safety, as well as the environment.
Counterfeit goods tend to be shipped to nearly all countries and continents.
This joint study by the OECD and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) examines the profiles of destination economies in the global trade of counterfeit/copycat products. A quantitative analysis was used to examine the socioeconomic characteristics of various countries, including the statistical relationship between imports of counterfeit invoices and selected observable socioeconomic factors.
