The European Patent Office (EPO) and the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) inaugurate an exhibition at the Zappeion Megaron.
Forests are a crucial part of our ecosystem. They improve the air we breathe, reduce greenhouse gases, provide essential resources for people, and offer shelter to animals and birds. Addressing wildfires, a result of the climate crisis, is a critical challenge for all of us. Due to its environmental, social, and economic impacts, it necessitates investment in Research and the utilization of Innovation.
The European Patent Office in collaboration with the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation presents an exhibition showcasing all the cutting-edge expertise and technical information contained in the patents of the specialized platform created by the EPO related to saving the land and its people from the unfortunately recurring destructive wildfires.
The unique exhibition “Technology in the Fight Against Wildfires. Our Inventions Help Us Build a Better World” comes to provide answers to the public for the first time, presenting groundbreaking innovative technologies for prevention, protection, firefighting, and restoration of burned areas, with the ultimate goal of preserving the ecological balance of our planet for future generations.
Visitors will have access to the latest developments and cutting-edge approaches related to protecting the environment from this devastating phenomenon and will understand the critical role of Innovation in finding and adopting inventive solutions to address these risks at an international level.
The exhibition is organized with the valuable collaboration of the Fire Department of Greece, the National Observatory of Athens, and the Agricultural University of Athens.
It will be open from March 13, 2024, to March 27, 2024, at the Zappeion Megaron.
