At the Special Committee on Research and Innovation of the Parliament, the Hellenic Industrial Property Academy (HIPA) presented its accomplishments yesterday, Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
In the presence of many members of the Hellenic Parliament, following an invitation from the Committee’s Chairman, Member of Parliament for Thessaloniki, Mr. Stratos Simopoulos, to highlight its work, the Academy and its members, notably its President, Professor Ioannis Katsogiannis, among others, informed about the conduct of the first national examinations for the certification of a new professional class, that of certified patent attorneys. These examinations will take place at the facilities of the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) in Marousi on March 29, 2025.
The Executive Director of HIPA, Mr. Anastasios Thomopoulos, in his presentation, elaborated on how the protection of Industrial Property (IP) can serve as a lever for business development and how HIPA contributes to strengthening Greek innovation. Meanwhile, Ms. Iliana Kosti, a legal expert and member of the Board of Directors of HIPA, highlighted the benefits to the Greek economy stemming from IP protection, as well as significant related legal issues.
Additionally, the importance of certified IP consultants for the country’s innovation ecosystem was emphasized to those present, as well as the need for their immediate absorption by Greek universities and research centers to contribute to the important work of Technology Transfer Offices.
