On March 15, 2023, a seminar titled “Protection of Patents at the National and European Level” took place in Heraklion, Crete. The event, organised by the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) in collaboration with the European Patent Office (EPO) and the University of Crete, began with an opening greeting by Mrs. Maria Vamvakaki, a member of the Scientific Committee for Innovation Transfer at the University. The event, hosted at the university, was successfully supported by Professor Andreas Panagopoulos, Head of the Knowledge Transfer Office, and Mr. M. Vergetakis.
Dr. Kyriaki Glinou, chemist and examiner at OBI, presented on “Protection of Industrial Property in Greece through Patents – Examples.” Mr. Michael Fröhlich, Director for International and European Legal Affairs at the EPO, spoke about the “Unitary Patent and the European Patent,” while Dr. Giorgos Asimopoulos, Chemist and Head of OBI’s Regional Office in Thessaloniki, delivered a presentation on “Technological Information from Industrial Property Titles and the Exploitation of Patents.”
The event was held at the University of Crete, in Hall E324, Department of Mathematics & Applied Mathematics.
A fruitful discussion followed with the attending students and professors.
